GYLDENDAL UDDANNELSE
Studybox - En streamingtjeneste for pensumbøger

Concept and UI / UX

This bachelor project, conducted in collaboration with Gyldendal, investigates strategies to enhance the appeal of their digital initiative, "Studybox," targeting students in higher education.

Studybox is a digital platform offering online streaming of educational textbooks through a subscription model. The defined target audience for Studybox comprises students in higher education, aged 19 to 27, seeking convenience in their academic pursuits, perceiving the need for a smarter and faster approach.

While Studybox faces no direct competitors, it competes indirectly with the sale of physical textbooks and the use of illegal pirated copies. Gyldendal, as a publishing house, holds a great market share in Danish educational books and, through collaborations with other Danish publishers, has secured Studybox's rights to textbooks covering the majority of Danish higher education programs. Studybox aspires to encompass all higher education disciplines in Denmark.

Despite offering convenience by aggregating all study materials online, Studybox encounters challenges in attracting a sufficient user base to the platform. The project hypothesis posits that providing the option to listen to study materials as audiobooks would further enhance convenience for the target audience. Based on this hypothesis and the objective of attracting more users, this bachelor project addresses the following research question: How can Studybox.dk expand its streaming service and leverage digital features to make the solution even more appealing to the target audience?

The project is developed using the Design Thinking framework, incorporating relevant literature and analytical models to gain insights into the company and the surrounding market. Qualitative and quantitative user studies, including interviews, observations, and surveys, are conducted to understand the behavior and needs of the target audience. These insights form the foundation for the development of the final concept.

The proposed solution is presented as a digital concept allowing the target audience to both read and listen to their study materials on the platform. The concept is introduced as a prototype and tested with the target audience, ultimately confirming the validity of the hypothesis.
